Chile - a magnificent country!

Chile boarders the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean (and Polynesia) to the west. It was in the Andes an airplane crashed and the story is known as ALIVE

Chile's unusual, ribbon-like shape — 4,300 km (2,672 mi or 430 Swedish mil) long and on average 175 km (109 mi or 17 Swedish mil) wide — has given it a hugely varied climate, ranging from the world's driest desert — the Atacama — in the north, through a Mediterranean climate in the centre, to a snow-prone Alpine climate in the south, with glaciers, fjords and lakes. I went to the "fox hunting" in Dyrehaven CPH...

...with my friend Rebecka.
The first sunday in November there is a traditional fox hunting called "Hubertusjagten" in Dyrehaven (or The Deer Garden/Jægersborg Deer Park) in Copenhagen. Nowadays the hunting exclude the foxes and the first two master riders wears a little fox tail on their jackets in order to simulate foxes. The event attracts around 40000 people!!! television choppers circle the air.

Dyrehaven is an incredible hughe area only 12 km from Copenhagen central station that covers 11 square kilometres. There are 2000 deer and the area was enclosed a long time ago by some king or something who wanted a hunting area. The nature is beautiful with lots of beech forests!

Beech forest from somewhere else

In the northern part of the park there is a hughe plain called Eremitagesletten which is encircled by forest. In the middle of Eremitagesletten is the Eremitageslottet or Eremitage Hunting Lodge that was built during the reign of Christian the VI.

"The palace is a fine example of the late Baroque period in Danish architecture.
Now, as it was then, the Eremitage is used for royal hunting parties, mainly in Jægersborg Deer Park. The small, compact palace on the top of the Eremitage plain is also known to many from the annual Hubertus hunts.

Every year the sister of the danish queen comes in a four-horse team to watch the event escorted by riding policemen. There are also a lot of other fancy wagons pulled by horses.

Here are some pictures of the event:

Warm up before the event starts (year 2003)

During the event the deer get scared out of the forest, this is a pic I found on the net but we could also se a deer bouncing around when we were there

2008 in Magasindammen or the Magasin pond

A Haflinger attended the event 2008, I think they are magnificent these horses, this one was really powerful cantering up the hills with the big rump muscles giving loads of energy - resembling the power of a Quarter or Paint Horse

The pond once again

The magic between man and animal click HERE for short film

"To me, he's like my baby," Muriithi explains. "He sleeps next to our house ... Even if I'm going out I have to make sure I leave my radio on so he thinks I am in the house."

Old school or new school?

There are those who claim that a horse shouldn't be too soft end flexed at the poll during a sliding stop. In my opinion that was the case in the 1990's and today that has changed, just like fashion changes over the years I guess. Watch these pictures:

The release of the horses on the island!!!

Due to the fact that Lingeling has some troubles with insects and allergies they are now released on an island and here are some pictures where they after two weeks stay are getting released on the entire area along with the other two horses, sheep and Red Angus cattle that roam the island. The other two, in this case GIANT, horses are around 20 years old and one of them is a former trotting horse and the stout one is a native North Swedish Horse

My horses got there on this "flatboat" or barge or what you may call it in english

Here's me and my miniatures with the sea and mainland in the background
