I went to the "fox hunting" in Dyrehaven CPH...

...with my friend Rebecka.
The first sunday in November there is a traditional fox hunting called "Hubertusjagten" in Dyrehaven (or The Deer Garden/Jægersborg Deer Park) in Copenhagen. Nowadays the hunting exclude the foxes and the first two master riders wears a little fox tail on their jackets in order to simulate foxes. The event attracts around 40000 people!!! television choppers circle the air.

Dyrehaven is an incredible hughe area only 12 km from Copenhagen central station that covers 11 square kilometres. There are 2000 deer and the area was enclosed a long time ago by some king or something who wanted a hunting area. The nature is beautiful with lots of beech forests!

In the northern part of the park there is a hughe plain called Eremitagesletten which is encircled by forest. In the middle of Eremitagesletten is the Eremitageslottet or Eremitage Hunting Lodge that was built during the reign of Christian the VI.

"The palace is a fine example of the late Baroque period in Danish architecture.
Now, as it was then, the Eremitage is used for royal hunting parties, mainly in Jægersborg Deer Park. The small, compact palace on the top of the Eremitage plain is also known to many from the annual Hubertus hunts.

Every year the sister of the danish queen comes in a four-horse team to watch the event escorted by riding policemen. There are also a lot of other fancy wagons pulled by horses.

Here are some pictures of the event:

Warm up before the event starts (year 2003)

Picture from 2003

During the event the deer get scared out of the forest, this is a pic I found on the net but we could also se a deer bouncing around when we were there

2008 in Magasindammen or the Magasin pond

A Haflinger attended the event 2008, I think they are magnificent these horses, this one was really powerful cantering up the hills with the big rump muscles giving loads of energy - resembling the power of a Quarter or Paint Horse

The pond once again

LINK to beautiful pictures from Dyrehaven, it's worth a visit!!!

Me gustan mucho.

Enhorabuena.
