Equine dentistry???

Some of you might not know that there actually exists equine dentists? Now you know! Today me and my 3-year-old horsie Moneypenny (yes she's a 007-babe and yes that's spelled without a space cause we don't like "space-writing" here in Sweden!!!) went to the best dentist in the world, well, at least in Sweden as many folks claim =) Despite his awesome craftmanship he is also a very nice and humble person to be around and that's also an important aspect when leaving my dearest horse's life in his hands! (well it's not that hazardous really)

Do remember that the pictures are "clickable"!

Now Moneypenny is three years and two months old, and it was time for her first teeth-examination! After injecting a sedative substance it was time to start.

This is her sedated and all, leaning her head on a head stand, do you think she looks happy? Hmm I doubt that, maybe tired if anything at that moment:

Here is Moneypenny wearing a mouth speculum

Here you can see the red arrow pointing at a little wound due to the sharp upper tooth which the blue arrow points out, this will be scraped down with a rasp. The other spots/particles in the mouth are remainders of grass:

This is her right side:

The equine dentist saw that the first milk-teeth (also called temporary-teeth, baby-teeth etc) of the upper premolars had been released as supposed to, but he would have to pull out the second premolar milk-teeth by hand because they wouldn't let go fully by themselves. To show what I'm talking about I found a picture on the internet. The first three pairs of teeth are called PREMOLARS (upper and lower) and the last three pairs of teeth are called MOLARS (upper and lower). I've made a red arrow pointing at the teeth that already had dropped and a blue arrow pointing at the ones we had to pull out (yes the same procedure on both sides of the upper cheek)

Here you can see the dentist gripping one tooth, looks kind of brutal in my opinion but she's in safe hands!

And here it is!!! It somewhat reminds me of the teeth I occasionally found in the feeding area where the dairy cows ate when working at the dairy-farm. The tooth should have been shed some time ago and because of that it was partially rotten!!!

Unfortunately I forgot the teeth which I wanted to save but I called the dentist and he was willing to keep them for me until next time I see him! THANKS MATE!!!

And here I am posing to the camera when smelling on one tooth, well I must say that I've smelled worse in school like guts and stomachs and stuff like that! So I seem quite happy anyway haha. Due to the fact that ALL pictures on the internet get stolen and manipulated in photoshop to be used in pornographic purposes I naturally had to edit in my major glasses to protect my integrity, well you know it's a freaky world we live in nowadays, you can't trust NO ONE! If you didn't know that already you do now! Call me paranoid or whatever but as y'all know I'm not willing to give one single opportunity for stalkers to track me down and sneak around outside my house hehehe!!!

I'm actually wearing my infamous genuine 1970's Christian Dior glasses on my head!!! They used to belong to my mum =)

By the way, I also edited out my equine dentist in one photo so neither him nor me will be hunted down by creapy low-lives sneaking around our houses late at night!

The Watusi bull

Here are some pictures of a bull named Lurch which has the largest horn circumference (92.25 cm) in the world according to the Guinnes Book of World Records:

Lurch's homepage where you can find more pictures! It's got to be HEAVY carrying those horns! According to Wikipedia:

"Ankole-Watusi cattle are a breed of cattle native to Africa /.../ They have very large, distinctive horns similar to a Texas Longhorn. The animals' large horns are honeycombed with blood vessels, and are used to thermo-regulate in hot temperatures. Blood moving through the horns is cooled by moving air, and then flows back into the body and lowers the animal's body temperature."

I got the inspiration from this blog PiRANOiAS

Sound of horse hooves

Here's a little something, just listen to that hard sound of hooves against the nice reining foundation!

I would like to go to Svalbard!

Since I got visitors from Spain, France and Sweden I thought I might compromise and write in english! At least today! I don't have the strength to bring up my rusty french haha!!!

Anyhow, Svalbard is located HERE

the name Svalbard is icelandic meaning "the land with the cold coasts" even though the western coast is somewhat warmer due to the gulf stream (which enable ice-breaker-boats to transport mining materials all throughout the year)

It's a norwegian group of islands with 2800 citizens and around 3000 polar bears!!! The biggest island is Spitsbergen and Svalbard is a demilitarised zone. The climat is arctic and the average temperature in july is 4.4 degrees. The sun never sets by the end of April and never rises by the end of October, THAT'S SO AWESOME!!! This is because of the northern position of the islands! Here you can find the most northern school, banc, hospital, church and so on IN THE WORLD!

In february 2008 the Svalbard Global Seed Vault was founded with approximately 4.5 MILLION seed samples and about 1400 different species from the worlds' most important field crops and stuff like that. The gene bank is situated about 125 metres deep into the parent rock and it was founded on the initiative by the Norwegian state because they wanted to prevent the disappearance of species. The vault will remain there no matter electrical supply thanks to the permafrost.

The gene bank!

The capital is Longyearbyen and most citizens carries weapons when strolling down the one and only main street because of the polar bear risk! Today a friend of mine told me that in the airport there is a sign "leave your weapons HERE" ROFL! But the natives themselves believe that the risk of being shot by a tourist is MUCH HIGHER than being eaten by a polar bear LOL!

Riktigt bra ridning!!!
